Application Packet (.pdf) or contact the Graduate Program Coordinator to have them sent to you.
To allow adequate time for review by both the University Admissions office and the department faculty, your complete application must be submitted no later than November 15, 2009.
Acceptance into the dance program requires admission
to the graduate school as well as admission to the department.
Applicants must make an appropriate application through both
the graduate school admissions office and the Department of Dance.
interview procedures
Based on a thorough review of application materials by the graduate studies committee, selected PhD applicants will be invited for on-site interviews. The interview dates for those students applying for entrance in Autumn Quarter 2010 are January 28
& 29, 2010. Should travel constitute an undue hardship, a phone interview may be arranged.

admission requirements
The program follows Graduate School requirements for PhD programs of a 3.5 graduate GPA for admission and a graduate cumulative point-hour ratio (CPHR) of 3.0 or better. There are basically three
steps involved in applying for graduate studies in the Department
of Dance. They are as follows:
1. Obtain, complete and submit all forms due to the University Graduate School Admissions Office
- Graduate School University Application
- Official College Transcript(s) for all undergraduate studies
- GRE Scores
- Completion of MA at OSU or elsewhere
2. Complete and submit all forms and documents due to the Dance Department
- Official College Transcript(s)
- Three Letters of Reference on official letterhead

- Department of Dance Application, including three personal essays
- Sample of scholarly writing
- Vita
- Evidence of engagement in the field
3. Optional Graduate Associate (GA) position submitted to the Dance Department

university fellowship
Consideration for University Fellowship is based on excellence (including a minimum GPA of 3.6) in previous academic work and artistic work, and is evidenced by official transcripts from all undergraduate academic institutions, three required personal essays, and three letters of reference. In addition, PhD applicants for University Fellowships must rank highly in the Graduate Record Examinations.
Indicate your interest in fellowship consideration by marking the University and department applications. It is essential that all application materials be received by both the Graduate School
and the Department of Dance by November 15, 2009 in order to be considered for a University Fellowship.
